A few near me (Glasgow area) have described the change as "radical" and "surprising".
Though, I have yet to come across someone who was disappointed at the change!!!
come on guys - we're over in the us and bluesbrother seems to be the only one who has commented on the reaction to the announcement in the uk.
any other reactions from the friends?
surely you've all had your meetings by now?.

old timers on the board may remember that i was the first to mention the november 06 blood insert in the km.. http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/121104/1.ashx.
the same very, very reliable source has confirmed that the book study will be amalgamated with the tms and sm.. this same source recently had a long and private conversation with a gb member.
As has been touched on by a few already but - I think the book study was the favourite meeting for many pubs. A bit more relaxed and more social.
Tea / coffee and a bite to eat afterwards.
Some may not be happy that its being moved!

<< That makes the Thurs meeting longer. As I recall, the meeting was 1:45. Now it will be 2:15? Blech. >>
I do not think they will do that, they would have the pubs jumping out the windows!!!
They will remove some of the current load to accomodate the 25 minute book study I think.
And as has already been mentioned - the pubs will be advised to use the time for study / ministry etc, but I can tell you now - in the UK alot of live football (soccer) is on Tuesday nights. The brothers in the hall will be pretty happy with this change.

<< The book study will have 25m and it will be done before the school ministry >>
Any idea when this will start?

<< How exactly would this work? for dummies please? Combine Tues & Thurs? thank you in advance.>>
They must be planning to reduce the current load in the TMS or/and Service meeting. They could also reduce the book study to 45 mins or 30 mins and cover less material..

Of course this will take the pressure off the elders - only one conductor per cong.
I wonder what they will do about the ministry due to no longer being divided into smaller groups, perhaps just meet as a cong on a Saturday morning.

When the announcement is read - will it be followed by instantaneous applause???
They will not clap I am sure, but in there heart they will feel over the moon and want to jump for joy.
Of course the org will need to put some spiritual / scriptural angle to all of this.

To add weight to this - An elder friend of mine has told me that changes are coming to the Book Study arrangement..
I think this is genuine!!
I bet the publishers are over the moon.
salutations everyone.
i am rather new to this site.
(finding it as i did, like a man stumbling upon some late night coven in the woods) anyway, i am a ms and member of the hitler youth (whoops, there i go again, i meant to say "pioneer") who has just decided to begin the great fade.
Welcome to the board.
I had the displeasure of being the accounts servant for 5 years, a right hassle to say the least. One thing I always liked was how the org were always updating procedures so we could send the money faster to them. I used to let my wife help me by counting all the cash (she was better at it than me).
I happened to mention this to an elders wife, 24 hours later I am being slapped by the service committee for allowing sisters to do work that is for brothers only!!
Fading, well thats a big subject. All I will say at this point is that to be able to fade quietly you will need to deal with the MS bit first. Step down for whatever reason and then start the back off from the org.
The alternative is to fade while still an appointed man - risky. If the local coven of elders think you are an evil demon possessed apostate they could push you out the door.
The Scotsman
well my situation has developed a bit, any advice appreciated.. their has been a gradual building up of pressure ever since i stood down as an elder about 6 months ago.. i have been telling my wife about my doubts but have continued to attend "some" meetings.. as time has progressed i have become more open with my criticism of the org.. i mentioned the un scandal, molestation trials, false prophecy ect etc.. interestingly she does not deny these facts and yet still wants to continue as a jw.. i told her that god is not happy with people knowingly being part of a false prophet (deut 18 - etc) - starting to lay the groundwork for my exit.. she appreciates the difficult situation doubters are in - they cannot openly express their feelings for fear of jcs.. anyway, a few weeks ago we moved house which meant changing congregation.. but i felt it would be best if i did not attend meetings " at all" at the new cong so my fade could be easier.. but i could not have predicted my wifes response - when i told her it was an explosion of emotion, i mean real heartbreaker stuff.. she seems depressed at the prospect, perhaps the reality is finally hitting home.. last night, about 3a.m.
i noticed that she was not in bed.
i went downstairs and she was sobbing away to herself.. "i can't go to that hall myself!
Thanks to you all for your help - it really is beneficial having a place like this to come to for advice based on actual experiences.
I have been swamped with PMs so plenty to think about.
I suppose I have reached the point I have looked forward to - actually breaking away from it all.
I love my wife with all my heart - and always will no matter what.
In the end - the ultimate plan must be to get out of the org and get her out as well.
Only time will tell how it will go.
